The Government of Punjab has announced that pay, allowances, and pensions for the month of December 2024 will be disbursed in advance to government employees and pensioners belonging to the Christian community. This decision comes in recognition of the upcoming Christmas celebrations on December 25.
According to a notification issued by the Finance Department, the payments will be made on December 20, 2024, in accordance with Rule 5.1 (1)-f and Rule 5.2 (3) of the Punjab Financial Rules, Volume-I. The advance disbursement will ensure that Christian employees and pensioners have timely financial resources for their religious festivities.
The directive instructs the Accountant General Punjab, District Accounts Officers across the province, and the Treasury Officer-I, Lahore, to ensure the timely release of these payments.
The notification has also been circulated to key financial institutions, including the State Bank of Pakistan, National Bank of Pakistan, and other commercial banks, to facilitate the process. Relevant bank branches have been directed to prioritize these payments to avoid any delays.
The Director General of Public Relations Punjab has been tasked with ensuring widespread dissemination of this information through print and electronic media, while the Finance Department’s System Analyst will post the notification on the department’s official website for public access.
This measure reflects the provincial government’s commitment to supporting its Christian employees and pensioners during the festive season.
