The 11th season of the Hope for Light Basketball Tournament concluded on May 14, 2024, at Itefaq Grounds in Lahore. Organized by the Hope for Light organization, the event saw participation from eight senior Christian teams and six junior teams.
In the senior category, Agapay Church Lahore emerged victorious, defeating the Hope Light team. In the junior category, Raiwind Diocese triumphed over Cathedral Church Lahore. The Chief Guest, Very Rev. Pastor Liaquat Qaiser, Principal of FGA Bible College, presented trophies to the winning players.
Mr. Javed David, Chairman of Hope for Light, expressed his gratitude for the continued success of the tournament. “We have established a basketball club here at Itefaq Grounds,” he told the White Post.
Malvin Mall also coaches young Christian boys, girls, and children in basketball.
“We facilitate and enable Christian youngsters to secure college and university admissions based on their athletic abilities, allowing them to study without paying tuition fees.”, added Mall
Mr. Atta Rehman Saman, Secretary of Hope for Light, reported that over 300 boys have gained admission to educational institutions through the program, with five players achieving national recognition.
Additionally, Mr. Ayub Qaiser, Guest of honor at the event articulating upon the importance of sports said, Sports play a vital role in shaping a tolerant and healthy society.
