Report By: Haroon Yousaf Athwal
For the first time in Pakistan’s history, members of the Athwal tribe from across the country convened for a large-scale Christmas celebration in Lahore’s Youhanabad on Sunday. Participants from various districts of all four provinces joined the event, marking a significant moment of unity for the community.
The gathering, organized as a milestone initiative, aimed not only to celebrate Christmas but also to strengthen ties within the Athwal tribe. Organizers said the objective was to foster cohesion, promote welfare, and build a sense of collective identity among tribe members.
A diverse group of attendees—including doctors, teachers, businessmen, politicians, religious leaders, journalists, and other professionals belonging to the Athwal community—took part in the event.

According to organizers, the effort to bring the tribe together began years ago, initiated by Mr. Shaukat Dayal Athwal and Mr. Kashif Nawab Athwal. Their vision was later advanced by Mr. Liaquat Athwal and Aamir Shaukat Athwal, who utilized digital tools and WhatsApp platforms to locate and connect Athwal families scattered across Pakistan. This coordinated effort ultimately led to the successful Christmas gathering.

During the event, speakers highlighted the historical depth and widespread presence of the Athwal tribe. In his remarks, Mr. Sabir Wasim Athwal noted that the tribe’s roots extend across regions, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration and unity.
Rev. Amjad Niamat shared a Christmas message focused on the love of God for humanity. Other speakers—including Imran Athwal, Pastor Emmanuel Tahir Athwal, Professor Sohail Bashir Athwal (Gujranwala), Pastor James Qandeel Athwal (Jhelum), Noman Athwal (Faisalabad), Faisal Athwal (Karachi), Sufyan Shahbaz Athwal (Patoki), and Abid Athwal (Sargodha)—expressed hopes that the tribe would remain united as one family to ensure future development and collective progress.
Organizers described the event as the beginning of a long-term effort to strengthen community ties and plan further initiatives for the welfare of the Athwal tribe.
