Lahore, April 23:

The historic YMCA Hall in Lahore bore witness to a special ceremony celebrating the remarkable athletic achievements of the Sohail sisters, namely Twinkle, Maryam, Cybil, and Veronica Sohail. The sisters, hailing from Pakistan, have brought immense honor and pride to the nation through their exceptional performances in various international competitions and tournaments spanning disciplines such as Kabbadi, powerlifting, and weightlifting.

During the ceremony, the YMCA Lahore bestowed honorary memberships upon the four accomplished athletes, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the sporting world. The event was graced by the presence of Rt Rev Nadeem Kamran, Bishop of Lahore, who commended YMCA for its commitment to nurturing young talent.

Bishop Kamran lauded the achievements of the Sohail sisters, emphasizing the significance of their triumphs at regional, Asian, and global levels. He highlighted the dedication and perseverance required for such accomplishments, extending his support to the Christian community’s pride in the athletes.

Emanuel Sarfraz, General Secretary of YMCA, reiterated the organisations unwavering support for athletes and sports enthusiasts. He announced the appointment of the Sohail sisters as goodwill ambassadors of YMCA, aiming to inspire other Christian youth to strive for excellence in their pursuits.

In a notable appeal, Sarfraz urged the first female Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, to personally meet with the athletes and address any challenges they may encounter. The plea underscored the importance of governmental support in facilitating the continued success and well-being of athletes like the Sohail sisters.

Twinkle and Cybil Sohail, both distinguished gold medalists, shed light on the various obstacles faced by them and their siblings. Despite their remarkable achievements, they highlighted the lack of comprehensive funding and support from entities such as the Pakistan Sports Board, underscoring the athletes’ reliance on self-funding for rigorous training and dietary needs.

The ceremony concluded with a sense of admiration and gratitude towards the Sohail sisters, whose resilience and determination serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes across Pakistan.
