The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, celebrated Christmas in a special ceremony held at the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday, December 23, 2024. The event, which took place at noon, featured the cutting of a Christmas cake and was attended by members of the legal community and Christian employees of the Supreme Court.
Speaking at the event, Justice Afridi emphasized the significance of unity, inclusivity, and respect for all faiths. He reiterated the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the Constitutional principles of equality and religious freedom. Extending Christmas greetings to Christian staff and members of the legal fraternity, the Chief Justice acknowledged their valuable contributions to Pakistan’s justice system.
“This occasion reflects our shared commitment to fostering harmony and coexistence among all communities,” Justice Afridi said.
The ceremony was attended by key figures, including Supreme Court Registrar Muhammad Salim Khan, representatives of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Additional Secretary Aurangzeb Khan, Finance Secretary Chaudhary Tanveer Akhtar, and Ahmed Ali, Executive Member from Sindh. Numerous advocates, staff members, and Christian security personnel were also present, underscoring the judiciary’s dedication to cultural and religious diversity.
The event highlighted the judiciary’s role as a unifying institution, promoting goodwill among different communities. This celebration aligns with Pakistan’s foundational principles of tolerance and unity, reinforcing the importance of inclusivity within the nation’s legal framework.
