In a disturbing incident, a 13-year-old Christian boy named Saim Liaquat from Lahore was allegedly harassed and mistreated by a guard of a posh housing authority, leaving the community outraged. According to Liaquat Masih, the boy’s father, his son was on his way for a haircut when he was accosted by the guard.
The guard reportedly shouted at the boy, demanding him to stop and then forcibly removed the cross from around his neck, along with his glasses. He then insisted that the boy prepare for Islamic prayer, despite the boy’s protestations that he was Christian and unable to comply. The situation escalated as the guard threatened to take the boy to another city, promising him comfort and forgetting his family and city.
Fortunately, the boy was saved by a passing woman, but not before being coerced into consuming something that later left him intoxicated. Four hours later, he was found lying on the ground by his parents.
A formal complaint has been registered, and medical examinations have been conducted, with results expected to shape the course of the case. This incident has reignited concerns about religious tolerance and discrimination in the region, prompting calls for swift and just action.
