Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif joined Christian community members and prominent religious and political leaders in Sialkot to celebrate Christmas. The event featured traditional festivities, including the ceremonial cutting of a Christmas cake and speeches emphasizing themes of hope, peace, and reconciliation.
The celebration was attended by key figures, including Moderator Bishop of the Church of Pakistan Dr. Azad Marshall, Bishop Alwin John Samuel, National Council of Churches in Pakistan President Rev. Dr. Majid Abel, MPA Shakeela Arthur, MNA Nelson Azeem, Secretary Synod Church of Pakistan Rev. Shahzad Gill, and Coordinator of the Church of Pakistan Mr. Zaheer Abbas.
Moderator Bishop Dr. Azad Marshall addressed the gathering, delivering a message of hope and unity. He highlighted the grace and truth represented in the teachings of Jesus Christ and extended Christmas greetings to both Christian and Muslim communities in Pakistan.
In his remarks, Minister Khawaja Asif acknowledged the contributions of the Christian community to Pakistan’s education, healthcare, and nation-building sectors. He announced plans to upgrade the Christian Hospital in Sialkot, a move welcomed by attendees. The minister also expressed gratitude for the invitation and shared his Christmas wishes with the community.
The event underscored the importance of interfaith harmony and mutual respect, reflecting shared values among Pakistan’s diverse communities. The program concluded with prayers for peace, prosperity, and goodwill for the country.
