ISLAMABAD, Feb 24 (APP)

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially designated non-Muslim special seats to various political entities based on the outcomes of the National Assembly elections held on February 8. In accordance with the notification issued by the ECP, a total of 10 minority seats have been allocated, reflecting the distribution in proportion to the seats attained by each party.

The breakdown of the allocation reveals that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) secured 4 Non-Muslim seats, followed by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) with 2 seats, and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) obtaining 1 seat, summing up to 7 seats distributed among the participating parties.

Among the non-Muslim members now represented in the National Assembly, PML-N boasts Kesoo Mal Kheal Das, Darshan, Nelson Azeem, and Isphanyar M Bhandara. The PPP’s representation includes Ramesh Lal and Naveed Aamir, while Mohan Manjaini secured a seat in the NA as an MQM nominee.

 

Furthermore, the allocation extends to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial assembly, where a notification has been issued for 5 seats specifically reserved for women. The Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Jamiat Ulema e Islam (JUI) each secured two reserved seats for women, while the Pakistan People’s Party was allocated one reserved seat for women in the provincial assembly.

The declared elected MPAs for reserved women seats include Rehana Ismail and Asima Alam from JUI, Sobia Shahid and Shehla Bano from PML-N, and Nelofar Babar representing PPP.

The Election Commission continues its deliberation regarding the allocation of specific seats to the Sunni Ittehad Council. Additionally, decisions are pending on 26 seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, including 21 reserved seats for women.
