Rawalpindi, June 22, 2024:

The funeral service for Sepoy Haroon William, a 29-year-old resident of Islamabad, was held today at Saint Paul’s Church in Rawalpindi. Sepoy William, a devoted Christian soldier, sacrificed his life in the defense of Pakistan, embracing martyrdom during counter-terrorism operations in Kurram District yesterday.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif attended the solemn ceremony, paying tribute to Sepoy William’s bravery and dedication. In his remarks, the Prime Minister praised the contributions and sacrifices of the Christian community, highlighting their vital role in the country’s progress and defense.

The Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, also honored the sacrifice of Sepoy Haroon William and his comrades, including Sepoy Anosh Rufun. COAS also emphasized that their unity and bravery exemplify the strength and resilience of the nation.

Following the service, Sepoy Haroon William was laid to rest with full military honors in Rawalpindi.

Funeral prayers were also held for Havildar Aqeel Ahmed from Okara, Lance Naik Muhammad Tafeer from Poonch, Sepoy Anosh Rufun from Attock, and Sepoy Muhammad Azam Khan from Haripur. Each soldier was commemorated for their heroic service and ultimate sacrifice for the country.
