The Association for Gender Awareness and Human Empowerment (AGAHE), with support from the Asia Pacific Humanitarian Fund, has launched a food assistance program for flood-affected communities in Jhang. The initiative formally began with an inception workshop held at the Social Welfare Complex under the supervision of the District Administration.
The session was attended by the Assistant Commissioner Tehsil Jhang, the Deputy Director of Social Welfare and Focal Point for Humanitarian Response and Early Recovery, a representative from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and other humanitarian partners active in the district.
According to Mr. Adeeb Alam Khan, Project Coordinator at AGAHE, a total of 1,400 food packages will be distributed among vulnerable families affected by floods in Union Councils Hassan Khan and Shah Jeewna of Tehsil and District Jhang.
Speaking at the event, Assistant Commissioner Mr. Farukh Mehmood appreciated the initiative, stating that the District Administration values such humanitarian interventions and remains committed to facilitating them.
“Transparency and accountability are essential to ensure that assistance reaches the most vulnerable families,” he added.
The program underscores a collaborative effort among government bodies, humanitarian organizations, and development partners to support ongoing relief and recovery operations in Jhang.
