In a session held today at the Lahore High Court, multiple post-arrest bail petitions were presented pertaining to various cases stemming from the incident in Jaranwala. The court, presided over by the Honorable Division Bench consisting of Mr. Justice Shehram Sarwar Ch and Mr. Justice Muhammad Waheed Khan, addressed a total of 26 bail petitions across different FIRs.
The proceedings involved the consideration of bail petitions filed in connection with FIRs numbered 1258/2023, 1260/2023, 1261/2023, 1263/2024, and 1296/2024. Legal representatives appeared before the Division Bench to advocate for their respective clients. Arguments were presented, emphasizing the submission of a report by the Punjab Government, currently under review by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
During the hearing, defense lawyer Mr. Saif ul Malook informed the court that he intends to present updates on the ongoing proceedings in the Supreme Court of Pakistan on March 18, 2024. The Division Bench took note of this and adjourned the proceedings until March 26, 2024, awaiting further developments.
The Honorable Division Bench, after careful consideration of the arguments presented by both parties, opted to defer any decisions until the status of the Punjab Government’s report before the Supreme Court is clarified. This decision underscores the importance of due process and the adherence to legal procedures in addressing the complexities of the case.
The next hearing on March 26, 2024, is anticipated to provide clarity on the path forward in the legal proceedings concerning the Jaranwala incident.
