On March 17th, 2024, the United Church was inaugurated in Bajur Agency, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Former Moderator of Church of Pakistan and Bishop of Peshawar Diocese, Rev. Humphrey Sarfraz Peters, and Former Bishop of Peshawar, Rev. Mano Romal Shah, leading the ceremony. This event marked a significant milestone for the local Christian community.
The establishment of the United Church was the result of collaborative efforts involving local leaders, government authorities, and community activists. Pervaiz Sultan, President of the Bajur Minority Wing and Former representative of Tribal Minorities in the provincial assembly, played a key role in initiating the church’s construction commenced during the previous government’s tenure.
With support from government resources, the formal establishment of the United Church now provides a place of worship for nearly thirty families in the region who previously lacked proper facilities. under the guidance of Rev. Adnan Jamil, serving as the Special Assistant of the Church of Pakistan, the United Church is positioned to manage the Church for the local Christian community.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by delegates from the Diocese of Peshawar, including Rev. Yousaf TM Azam, Secretary of Mission and Ministries, Rev. Shahid, Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Murad of Mardan Church, and Church Activist Yasir Bhatti. The Head of Churches, reaffirmed the diocese’s commitment to supporting the newly established United Church.
