The Institute for Social and Youth Development (ISYD), in collaboration with the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), hosted the transformative Society 5.0 Bootcamp: Empowering Youth for a Digital Future. Held as part of the ASEFYLS Capacity Buildings 2024 program, the event aimed to equip young leaders with the tools to thrive in a digitally transformed, human-centered society.
The one-day event introduced participants to the concept of Society 5.0, a vision of the future where technology and innovation address societal challenges while fostering inclusivity and sustainability. Through hands-on workshops and expert-led discussions, attendees were encouraged to develop leadership skills and strategies for community-based action.
Workshops focused on campaign design and storytelling for advocacy, enabling participants to create compelling narratives and impactful initiatives. A panel discussion, featuring international speakers and ASEFYLS2024 Fellows from a recent ASEF training in Hungary, explored the challenges and opportunities of leadership in Society 5.0. Panelists emphasized ethical leadership and the role of youth as changemakers in driving societal progress through technology.
The event also featured intercultural dialogues, fostering collaboration and understanding among diverse participants. Action plans developed during the bootcamp reflected a shared commitment to addressing pressing issues with ethical and inclusive solutions.
“This bootcamp has been a turning point for me,” one participant shared. “The sessions were not only educational but also incredibly inspiring, and I now feel confident to take action in my community.”
The success of the Society 5.0 Bootcamp marks the beginning of ISYD’s broader efforts to scale the program across Pakistan. The organization plans to establish a nationwide network of young leaders advocating for ethical technology use and digital inclusion.
