Awam Organization recently organized a comprehensive training session for journalists from print, electronic, and digital media. The session aimed to emphasize the importance of sensitive reporting, particularly concerning vulnerable groups and religious minorities.
Sonia Patras from Awam Organization addressed the participants, highlighting the session’s objective: to ensure that journalists handle news and article writing with care to avoid hurting sentiments or inciting societal discord.
Senior journalists Mian Iftikhar Ahmed and Naseem Anthony spoke on the dangers of fake news, disinformation, and misinformation. They underscored how such practices not only distort social realities but also fuel conflicts among communities, urging extreme caution in reporting on issues related to religious minorities and other sensitive topics.
The session saw active participation from notable journalists including Shahid Mainer from print media, Sameer Ajmal, Mian Iftikhar Ahmed, Atif Siddique Kahlon from electronic media, Asim Naveed from English media, Nadeem Gul, Esfand Yar from digital media, and photojournalist Aqeel Pervez.
Awam Organization announced its commitment to continuing these training sessions to promote responsible journalism and enhance media integrity.
