The Most Rev. Dr. Azad Marshall, Moderator/President Bishop of the Church of Pakistan and Bishop of Raiwind, has issued a call for respect and unity following a recent incident involving a visitor’s hostile behavior toward the Christian faith at the Central Cathedral of Praying Hands on Waris Road. In response to requests from the congregation, Bishop Marshall addressed the matter, urging a response marked by grace and firm conviction while stressing the importance of upholding constitutional rights to religious freedom.
In a letter to the President of Pakistan, Bishop Marshall underscored that any actions mocking a faith disrupt national harmony and mutual respect. “We, as citizens from various religious backgrounds, love and serve each other in many areas of national life,” he wrote, emphasizing the need to foster peace across communities.
In his address, Bishop Marshall celebrated the core values of Christianity, describing the faith as a divine gift brought by Jesus Christ and reminding the congregation of its enduring message of hope, salvation, and reconciliation. Quoting the Bible, he spoke of Jesus’ authority and the mission entrusted to His apostles to “make disciples of all nations,” a commitment that has sustained the Christian community for over 2,000 years, even amidst challenges.
The Bishop encouraged the community to reflect on the Apostles’ Creed, a unifying declaration for Christians globally, and urged believers to stand firm in their faith. The address concluded with a sermon on the Apostles’ Creed, which is available for viewing on Facebook.
