Dr. Helen Mary Roberts has been promoted to the rank of brigadier in the Pakistan Army Medical Corps, becoming the first female brigadier from Pakistan’s Christian community.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Brigadier Roberts on her promotion, stating, “Brigadier Helen Mary Roberts is the first female Brigadier from a minority community in Pakistan, the entire nation, including me, congratulates her.”
Brigadier Roberts has served as a pathologist in the Pakistan Army Medical Corps for 26 years.
This promotion follows Maj Gen Nigar Johar’s historic achievement in June 2020, when she became the first female officer in Pakistan to be promoted to the rank of lieutenant general.
The promotion of Brigadier Roberts marks another significant milestone for women and minority representation in Pakistan’s armed forces.
