The Holy See has officially announced the appointment of Khalid Rehmat as the new Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lahore, marking a significant development for the Catholic Church in Pakistan.

Archbishop-designate Khalid Rehmat previously served as the Apostolic Vicar of the Apostolic Vicariate of Quetta, where he was known for his pastoral leadership and efforts to support the spiritual life of Catholic communities in Balochistan. During his tenure in Quetta, he also promoted peacebuilding initiatives and interfaith dialogue in a region characterized by religious and cultural diversity.

The appointment has been welcomed by members of the Catholic community across the country. Clergy and faithful in the Archdiocese of Lahore expressed hope that his leadership will further strengthen the Church’s pastoral mission and contribute to the spiritual growth of the faithful.

With this new responsibility, Archbishop Khalid Rehmat is expected to guide one of the largest Catholic dioceses in Pakistan, overseeing pastoral, social, and educational initiatives of the Church while continuing efforts to foster harmony among different religious communities.
