WHO WE ARE

Introduction of Organization:

Christian Journalists Association of Pakistan (CJAP) works for the capacity building and
professional growth of Christian media persons across the country. The association aims to protect the rights of the Christian media persons as well as to provide
them a platform where they not only connect, but also share and learn from each other’s experiences. The association believes in safeguarding the power of media in the larger interest of the community. CJAP was established in January 2021, with the aim to highlight issues which remain unreported in the mainstream media. CJAP envisions to support social inclusion, democratic norms, accountability and social cohesion by the promotion of better and learned use of media by the media professionals.

CJAP Objectives:

  • The association aims to protect the rights of the Christian media persons as well as to provide them a platform where they not only connect, but also share and learn from each other’s experiences. The association believes in safeguarding the power of media in the larger interest of the community.
  • To strengthen the democratic process of the country all citizens have to understand
    their responsibilities to drive country on the path of sustainable development. In this process, media plays a significant role in educating society and report incidents and analysis in a more rigorous way to produce constructive programs that bring
    communities of diverse faith together. After state owned TV channel, the introduction of private TV channels in 2000 created an informatory wave and since then pubic has been experiencing a more exciting and liberal side of the private media and using it as a primary tool to get real-time news.
  • CJAP’s major areas of focus are, to promote tolerance and patience by throwing the
    light on the importance of humanity and the constitution of Pakistan which grants
    identical rights to minorities by the use of Christian media. In addition, the purpose of creating harmony among all minority groups can be fulfilled by media through
    interfaith dialogue.
  • To address these issues, CJAP has established a network of like-minded Christian
    journalists to advocate rights of minorities and to create harmony by engaging
    different faith groups in the mainstream media through its programs.
  • The Association also acts to connect its members with government officials, office
    bearers of representative bodies, key influencers for developing effective contacts
    which may also serve to address the issues of marginalized groups.
  • Our purpose, CJAP aims to become the voice of the marginalized communities,
    including minorities, women and transgender people. CJAP was established in
    January 2021, with the aim to highlight issues which remain unreported in the
    mainstream media. Our vision is to support inclusively, democratic norms,
    accountability and social cohesion.
