The YMCA Hall in Lahore was abuzz with appreciation and recognition as prominent personalities from diverse backgrounds converged to honor nurses and mothers during a recent event.
Marking both the International Day of Nurses and Mother’s Day, the gathering saw Director General Nursing Tahira Sagir as the esteemed chief guest, while the proceedings were presided over by the Bishop of Lahore, Rt Rev Nadeem Kamran, said the press release
Among the distinguished guests were Buhsra Nawaz from Principal Shaikh Zayed Nursing School, Naila Maqbool representing Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Madam Rubina from Mayo College of Nursing, and Ghulam Nabi, lending their support to the occasion.
Commencing with prayers for national prosperity and social harmony, the event was opened by YMCA President Mr. Asghar Suleman, who underscored the institution’s commitment to uplifting the community, particularly through its programs aimed at youth empowerment.
Mr. Emanuel Sarfraz, the General Secretary of YMCA, highlighted the organization’s recent initiatives focused on fostering the physical and mental well-being of the youth, including vocational training programs tailored to cater to the needs of lower-middle-class students.
In his address, Director of YMCA John William shed light on the challenges encountered by nurses, especially young women aspiring to pursue careers in the field. He emphasized the indispensable role mothers play in shaping societal dynamics, stressing YMCA’s dedication to equipping students with essential life skills for personal and professional development.
