An incident occurred at the New Jerusalem Church in Raiwind during an evening funeral mass when a local Muslim youth, reportedly in his early twenties, threw bricks at the church. The incident resulted in damage to a vehicle belonging to one of the churchgoers.
Pastor Younis Gill, the in-charge of the church, reported that the young man’s mother claimed her son is mentally unstable. Pastor Gill, who resides within the church campus, emphasized that no damage was done to the church building itself.
“There were only a few people attending the funeral mass when the attack took place. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the church structure remains unharmed,” said Pastor Gill.
The pastor also noted the support from local Muslims, including community leaders, who have stood by the church following the incident. “We want peace and for the police to investigate the case on its merits,” he stated.
The boy responsible for the attack belongs to a family from Faisalabad that has been renting a house in the area for the past four years.
Local authorities are currently investigating the matter to ensure a thorough and fair resolution.
