The National Commission for Justice and Peace (NCJP) held a networking meeting with lawyers’ associations, bar councils, civil society representatives and other stakeholders to strengthen cooperation with the legal community and discuss ways to improve access to legal aid for people facing discrimination on religious grounds.
The meeting was attended by NCJP National Director Fr. Emmanuel Bernard, Executive Director Naeem Yousaf Gill and National Coordinator Behram Francis. Lawyers, journalists, human rights activists, civil society representatives and other stakeholders also participated.
Discussions focused on strengthening coordination among lawyers, bar associations, bar councils, civil society and human rights organizations to facilitate timely and effective legal assistance for individuals and communities affected by religious discrimination and related injustices.
Participants discussed the need for greater cooperation and communication between legal professionals and civil society organizations to help vulnerable individuals understand and exercise their legal rights.
The participants agreed to continue engagement and explore avenues for cooperation aimed at expanding access to free legal services and supporting people who face discrimination or injustice on religious grounds.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on strengthening collaboration between the legal community and civil society to improve access to justice and legal support for affected communities.
